{"id":4615,"date":"2013-12-08T12:26:57","date_gmt":"2013-12-08T20:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/?p=4615"},"modified":"2015-01-21T12:38:50","modified_gmt":"2015-01-21T20:38:50","slug":"ron-fellows-c7-corvette-autocross-course-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/4615\/ron-fellows-c7-corvette-autocross-course-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Ron Fellows C7 Corvette Autocross Course Action"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>I had a chance to see the C7 Corvette at the hands of experienced race car drivers in what can only be described as a tiny autocross course. This is the Corvette C7 in micro-bursts of full chat, in a short course at the hands of Ron Fellows Driving School race car drivers.<\/h3>\n<p>This all happened a few weeks ago at <a href=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/tag\/sema\/\">SEMA<\/a>. I think it was day 3 of the show and I was crossing show halls, from Center to South hall. Chevrolet had set up a cone course, outside between both of the halls to demonstrate the capabilities of their newest \u2018Vette.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/2015_corvette_animation_740px.gif\" alt=\"2015 Corvette Animation\" width=\"740\" height=\"493\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4623\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The area in terms of space was pretty big. However, in race course scale, damn tiny. So hardly a race track, the course can best be described as an auto x course missing some of the slalom sections. But, it still offered enough room to demonstrate some of the key features of the C7 Corvette &#8211; full throttle for second, cornering ability and its freaking awesome exhaust sound. That last bit was probably the best part.<\/p>\n<p>The show-goers didn\u2019t actually get a chance to drive the car, they just stood in line to ride shotgun. Similar to my shotgun ride with Scott Pruett at <a href=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/3885\/coronado-speed-festival-photos-fleet-week-san-diego\/\">Coronado Speed Festival<\/a>. I didn\u2019t bother to stand in line for 2 hours for the ride like I did at Speed Fest. I\u2019ll wait to actually drive the car later rather.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/c7_corvette_autocross_ron_fellows.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/c7_corvette_autocross_ron_fellows-740x493.jpg\" alt=\"C7 Corvette Autocross Ron Fellows\" width=\"740\" height=\"493\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4625\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/c7_corvette_autocross_ron_fellows-740x493.jpg 740w, https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/c7_corvette_autocross_ron_fellows-330x220.jpg 330w, https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/c7_corvette_autocross_ron_fellows-360x240.jpg 360w, https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/c7_corvette_autocross_ron_fellows.jpg 1140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, these experienced drivers were obviously enjoying giving people thrill rides. The spectators were having almost as much fun watching the action and listening to the glorious engine notes. Not to kiss-ass with GM, but this car sounds truly awesome and looks incredible too.<\/p>\n<p>Funny how most people\u2019s comments about the car are about how awesome the car looks &#8211; almost in unison. This is a polar opposite of many of the comments about the <a href=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/4578\/mustang-still-looks-retro-2015-ford-mustang-reveal\/\">new 2015 Mustang<\/a>, which seem to go along the lines of, \u201cWell, it actually looks better in person than in the photos.\u201d Not bad, but it\u2019s also not very reassuring. The C7 is the clear winner here.<\/p>\n<p>A few snaps later and I\u2019ve got the photos you see here as well as the little gif animation for classic internets fun.<\/p>\n<p>The C7 Corvette autocross course runs were alternating with regular folks actually driving the Camaro. Those runs didn\u2019t look nearly as good since there was zero tail-out action. Not to mention, very slow performance coming from the ultra-careful-average-Joe test drivers. Still better than the occasional Silverado clumsily trying to deal with the tight course.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ron_fellows_c7_corvette.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ron_fellows_c7_corvette-740x493.jpg\" alt=\"Ron Fellows C7 Corvette\" width=\"740\" height=\"493\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4627\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ron_fellows_c7_corvette-740x493.jpg 740w, https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ron_fellows_c7_corvette-330x220.jpg 330w, https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ron_fellows_c7_corvette-360x240.jpg 360w, https:\/\/rallyways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ron_fellows_c7_corvette.jpg 1140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bottom line is, the 2014 Corvette Stingray might look fast standing still, but looks even faster when doing what it\u2019s supposed to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a chance to see the C7 Corvette at the hands of experienced race car drivers in what can only be described as a tiny autocross course.
