White Lamborghini Countach Rancho Santa Fe Cars and Coffee

I’m not going to try to sell you this as one of my best photos, because it is far from that. Still, I really like it, and I’d love to share it here.

There’s no need to shed any doubt on how special the Lamborghini Countach is, especially in white. This photo was shot at Rancho Santa Fe Cars and Coffee, which used to be referred to as the Secret Car Club.

It seems that after other shows around the area closed, this one simply got big. Now everyone refers to it as Rancho Santa Fe Cars and Coffee.

I’m a big fan of low profile shots, as well as low, straight-on front shots. They capture an angle of a vehicle that most people seem to ignore. After all, when you look at a car in person, there’s almost always some kind of angle to it. It’s rarely straight on from the side or straight on from the front.

A few facts about the Lamborghini Countach: it was produced from 1974 to 1990 and styled by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, whose sharp, wedge-shaped design helped define the look of the supercar for an entire generation. It introduced the now-iconic scissor doors and was powered by a longitudinally mounted V12. Even the name fits the car perfectly. “Countach” is a Piedmontese exclamation of astonishment, the kind of thing you might blurt out the first time you lay eyes on one.
