Inside SCG 003 – The Book
Last week’s story about the Glickenhaus SCG 003 race car must have been inspiring for a lot of our readers as you don’t come across a project like this every day.
In the meantime, it has become public that the SCG 003 apparently broke the Porsche 918 Spyder’s Nürburgring lap record. And in fact, they weren’t just a tiny bit faster, no, we’re talking about 15 seconds!
In my opinion, this project deserves a little more attention, and that’s exactly what publishers Bart Lenaerts and Lies De Mol from WAFT must have thought, when they teamed up with the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus team to create a very special book on a very special car, called Inside SCG 003.
Limited to 500 pieces
This “black box” will be limited to 500 pieces and shows the entire development of this remarkable sports car, build for the American collector Jim Glickenhaus, and the birth of a new and exciting car brand. It gives the reader a unique backstage view on the coming together of the SCG 003. The book comes in two separate volumes with a total of 512 pages of text and unique photos. The first part with 312 pages is already available for purchase and explains the entire development of the car, including technical details and drawings.
The second part of the book will follow in a few months, after the car has raced at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. Apart from the entire racing history that will be explained in this second volume, the book will feature an alloy plate on the back with a milled SCG logo, the unique number of the book and the reader’s own name engraved on the plate. Now, that’s already pretty cool right? But the team even goes a step further…
Your name will appear on the actual race car
To thank the fans for all their support, all 500 names of the people who buy the book will somehow appear on the real racecar during the Nürburgring 24 hours race in a month from now! The sticker with your name on it will be glued inside the second book as well. This way, you will become a small part of the action. With the book, you will also receive a QR code with which you can go to your local 3D printing shop to have your own SCG 003 artistic model printed.
WAFT happily presents this magnificent set of books for 280 euros. Shipping costs aside. Some of you will think this is quite pricey, but if you look at the massive amount of work that went into this publication and everything that is included, it’s well worth it. I’m actually thinking of buying one myself. Inside SCG003 is not just text and pictures printed on paper and packed in a nice box. This is an experience and it might very well become an important part of automotive and racing history. It is a rarity that a journalist gets full and unlimited access into the entire development of a car, and what a car it is!
